PTSA’s College and Career Nights 2024/2025
The district’s College & Career Night events are sponsored by all 3 high school PTSAs. The events will be hosted at either SOHS, OCHS, NOHS, or The Arvin Education Center for the 2024-2025 school year.
Please see the calendar below for program details & location.

PREPARING FOR COLLEGE DURING THE HIGH SCHOOL YEARS
&
TIPS FOR ATTENDING THE REGIONAL COLLEGE FAIR & CAMPUS VISITS
This presentation will include what students need to do during their high school years to be in the best position to select and apply to colleges, as well as other related topics like increasing scholarship eligibility, test optional vs. test reporting, and what to ask during college visits and the upcoming Oldham County Regional College Fair.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet with admissions representatives from colleges, technical schools & military branches. There will be public and private schools of all sizes from various states including KY, IN, OH, TN & more!
This is a great chance to learn about the programs, majors, and scholarships that these schools have to offer and get your questions answered directly from the admissions teams.

KHEAA - Paying for College 101
This workshop, led by our KHEAA outreach counselor Kelly Smith, will help students and parents understand financial aid options to help pay for college and how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You will also learn how colleges package aid and how grants, scholarships, work study and student loans are awarded.

How Standardized Test Scores Affect College Admission &
Scholarship Opportunities
Learn about how test scores and test-optional vs. score reporting affect students as they apply to colleges and for scholarships. The program will also address how the tests differ, the latest changes, what students can do to improve scores, and when to test.

FAFSA Completion Workshop
KHEAA and college financial aid professionals will assist families in completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online in the media center. The FAFSA is the primary application for federal and state financial aid and is also used for some institutional and private aid. Students and parents MUST have their FSA IDs created at least two weeks prior to this event. Bring your completed 2023 taxes.

  • Transitioning to College with Accommodations

This program will feature disability resource coordinators from Kentucky colleges who will share information about accommodations at the postsecondary level. Learn about what is currently offered through your child's 504 Plan or Individualized Education Plan and the process for accessing available resources at the college level.
