KYOTE Information:

A passing score on the KYOTE exam, which is a standardized math and reading assessment, is an indication of preparedness for college-level learning.  Many postsecondary colleges or programs throughout Kentucky accept KYOTE scores as benchmarks for determining class placement.  One benefit for students who meet the benchmark on the KYOTE is they can avoid costly non-credit remedial courses when they enroll in college in Kentucky and avoid being placed on any academic restrictions.  Meeting these benchmarks is also critical for Kentucky high-school students regardless of whether they enroll in college immediately. A passing score on the KYOTE can make it easier to earn a credential in a college or career program long after high school or for any furthering of your work career down the road.

The benchmark scores for Math are a 19 on the ACT (or 22 on the KYOTE) and reading is a 20 on the ACT (or 20 on the KYOTE).

Because we believe the KYOTE is a great option for students trying to meet math and/or reading benchmarks, we have teachers working with students to help them prepare for the KYOTE. We feel strongly that the KYOTE is a great option for our students who have not met Kentucky ACT benchmarks and want another option other than retaking the ACT.
